A SCREAMIN' GREAT PIZZA! - Feb. 28, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Just had a pizza from Screamin' Mimi's at 513 East Oglethorpe Avenue. Definitely the best mushroom and green pepper (my favorite) pizza I've ever eaten. The peppers arein big, plump chunks, plenty of fresh mushrooms atop an absolutely delicious crust! And        they have couple of tables outdoors, which means, doggie delight!

BEST PIZZA & SERVICE EVER!!! I love this place, the pizza rocks and the people who work the place rock even more! I work in the hospitality industry and as far as customer service and quality is concerned, Lou, the owner of Screamin' Mimi's knocked my socks off with his great LARGE slices of pizza, the best Italian sub I've ever tasted and his and his staff's great personality! This pizza is not only the best in Savannah, GA but the best pizza in the states. I'm from Miami, FL and we've got a slew of pizza places and Lou's Screamin' Mimi's takes the top on my list! The dough is made fresh daily and everything is absolutely affordable, can't wait to go back to Savannah and get more of that " New Jersey Style Pizza!"

This Big Boy will admit that he doesn't know much about "Jersey Style" pizza. However, he knows a good slice of pie when he has one and this place serves nothing but good slices.

Located in a strip mall Mimi's isn't the first place one would think to get some pizza in Savannah. But, it is addictive and once you have a slice you won't want to go anywhere else.

It's closest competitor would be Vinnie Van Go-Go's but unlike Vinnie's, Mimi's has parking a'plenty just outside the door. And at $12.95 for a jumbo 18" one topping pizza you can't go wrong.

The staff is full of personality (and tattoos) and makes you feel like you just stepped into their home for a little dinner. The menu also offers steak subs, meatball subs, cold subs and Pepsi products. Did I mention the subs are a whopping 11"?

Delivery is also available.

By far, the BEST pizza in Savannah!  As a matter of fact, it's better than lots of pizza i have had in new york.  Screamin' Mimi's is off the beaten path a little bit, so it has a way to make me feel like it's my special place.  the slices are huge, you can get a lunch special, two huge slices of cheese and a drink for 5.95... can't beat that price.  they have fresh toppings, but too me, the cheese is number one.  the slices are nice and thin, perfect for folding in half and eating like a taco... i always pick Screamin' Mimi's over any other pizza joint.  Go there, eat pizza, and don't feel bad about it!  even my mom, a typical deep dish girl, gave in to the tastiness of screamin' mimi's

I love this place. The pizza is awesome and the people are
even better. I love the ever-changing art show too. When we moved here years ago no one knew of white pizza, but not only does Screamin’ Mimi’s  serve it, they do it very well.
I only wish we lived closer!

Owner Lou Cobello, the coolest guy ever!!
Screamin' Mimi's Rocks my Socks!

Savannah Morning News

There are family businesses and then there are family businesses.
When I dropped by Screamin' Mimi's last week to talk to the owners, I found myself in the midst of four of them - Lou and Scarlet Cobello and their grown children Lou Jr. and Tara.

The softspoken Scarlet goes by Mimi, but when I asked where the screaming comes in, several fingers were pointed at the elder Lou.

Before they relocated to the South and pursued other things, the family owned a similar restaurant for five years in Atlantic City.

With a full menu of thin-crust New Jersey-style pizza, stromboli, calzones, and subs, Screamin' Mimi's opened about two weeks ago in the recently renovated Crawford Square Plaza at the corner of Oglethorpe Avenue and Price Street.

The plaza, once home to a grocery store and later an office complex, has been steadily filling up with a diverse group of businesses. Screamin' Mimi's occupies a 1,200 square-foot spot at the west end of the plaza next to Brown Chiropractic. There's plenty of parking on-site.

The interior of Screamin' Mimi's is pleasant and casual, with patrons invited to write on the chalkboards lining the walls. (There seems to be some family disagreement, however, about whether they should get colored chalk or just stick with the white.)

There's quick counter service, with large slices starting at just $2. Most of the subs are in the $6-$7 range. With minimal advertising, Screamin' Mimi's has quickly attracted customers just through word-of-mouth.

"I pride myself on referred business," Lou Sr., said. "We're in a groove pretty good."
He hopes that groove will continue so that the family can open in a couple of more locations in the future.

The opening of Screamin' Mimi's is especially good news for residents of the southeast portion of the Historic District, an area with few eateries.

Screamin' Mimi's offers delivery service to downtown and Ardsley Park. It is currently open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Friuday, 11 a.m. to 10 pm on Friday, 12-8 p.m. on Saturday.

Before I left, I asked if it were difficult working so closely with one's family, but Tara responded immediately with a smile: "No, we're Italian."
